The Cult of Credentialism

For the uninitiated, credentialism is belief in or reliance on academic or other formal qualifications as the best measure of a person's intelligence or ability to do a particular job.

It's an issue of 'quantity and quality' -- the number of degrees one obtains and where they obtain them!

Most top firms apply this rule to recruit and to promote candidates. This is just how the world works. But a few people have been able to defy this odd, especially in the field of computers.

What, though, is the attraction for these elite jobs? I think a commercial propaganda that happiness would be found.
